Thanks for the compliment.
Well I gues...Hi Maria! Thanks for the compliment.

Well I guess it depends on if you guys have an income from the U.S. you can rely on. Work here is scarce, most people have to find work outside RO. My hubby is working in Italy. I can't work, not with 3 small kids, and a language problem! ;)

As far as culture shock and adjusting goes, it depends on the person really. It's better if a person can look for the good and not the negative. I know an American woman who came here with her RO hubby, and she hated it, she saw only the bad.

I knew NO Romanian besides Buna Ziua, Multumesc, Cu Placere si te iubesc when I came here. My language skills are still lacking, but I'm learning! ;)

I will tell you, in order to get all your stuff straight for your hubby here with Emigratii, you will need his birth certificate and your marriage certificate, and both will need to have an apostil. The apostil you get from the secretary of state's office in the state that issued the documents. When you get here, take the certificates plus their apostil to a registered translator, get certificates and apostils translated, then have the translations notarized. Then go to the Primaria to get an act of transcris for the marriage certificate. Depending on the oras, etc. and whatever butt-head works there, you can wait up to 6 months to get them, unless of course you can bribe someone, etc. Once you have the act de transcris for the marriage certificate, you will take all that, plus a declaratie you will have to have made at a notar saying that you as a RO citizen will support your husband, etc. that he will not become a burden to the state, etc. Also, he willl have to get an adverinta from a doctor saying he is in good health, free of transmunicable diseases, such as HIV, AIDS or TB, etc.

Hopefully, you'll get some nice immigration officials like I did. :) I don't know what the fess are for any of that, cause they never asked me for the first leu. OH yes, you will also have to provide either a rental contract, or contract de commodat. If you're renting, the contract de commodat is better, that way you don't have to pay extra taxes! ;) Or if you own your own place, the title/contract etc. to the property. If you move or anything, you have to notify immigration, otherwise you get a fine. Or if you rent, and the rental contract expires, you have to renew the contract to bring to immigration.

If you have any other questions or anything, please feel free to email me: odessa.toma@gmail.com

Just out of curiosity, where in Romania are you from, i.e., where will you be moving back to??? If you're anywhere near Tulcea, let me know, we can meet up! :)Ex-pat Odessahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03657864512970771221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2066055269353045964.post-84786344760700882432011-11-26T01:01:54.461+02:002011-11-26T01:01:54.461+02:00LOL George. I am a little scared of how our life would shape up there, and I want to make it easier for him. I know he'll experience culture shock, just like it was for you, or me when coming to US.
What do you think helped you the most while adapting to the Romanian lifestyle? Did you speak Romanian before arriving there?
I like your blog, you're a very talented writer! Keep it up! :)Marianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2066055269353045964.post-47628987497840357512011-11-22T02:09:57.508+02:002011-11-22T02:09:57.508+02:00Interesting post.
